Dr. Petruzzi has always been great. We found him by searching the web when I needed a new dentist for my kids. I seen several dentists before choosing him.
When all the other dentists wanted to do what they wanted on my child’s teeth instead of asking me and acknowledging my preference; he was the only one to listen and agree to what I would prefer for my son. It really scored a lot of points for him and his office.
A dentist who listens to the parents is important.
Rachel, at the front desk is always a pleasure to speak to as well. She’s been so helpful and kind every time I’ve needed to interact with her.
It’s very appreciated.
However, there was one thing I didn't appreciate. One of the dental hygienists said something quite silly to my son. He was crying and scared of getting his teeth cleaned because of a prior visit he had when he was 3/4. She told him “I’m not hurting you, you’re too old to be crying”. He’s 6. He’s not too old to have feelings and emotions. It’s okay to cry and it’s okay to be scared. Wasn’t necessary or helpful to my son as his crying just continued. She also put fluoride on his teeth without my consent. She didn’t ask him what kind of toothpaste he preferred. Just wasn’t friendly at all with him. Meanwhile Rachel was doing my daughters teeth and she was amazing with her. Asked her what kind of toothpaste and what kind of toothbrush she wanted. She just made her experience fun while she talked to her. My daughter also did great! She’s 3.
The next visit my son was having a procedure done and he started panicking and crying a bit. This same hygienist came to the room, rolled her eyes and shut the door. As if my son was an annoyance or being a nuisance to other patients out there; who by the way started screaming and crying much louder than my son was. Luckily Dr. Petruzzi knew how to talk to my son and was singing songs. My son stopped almost immediately. Even made him laugh from his singing.
If my son had a nicer hygienist, maybe he wouldn’t of cried. Kids sense things.
My star rating reflects Dr. Petruzzi and Rachel only. They are too great to give anything less than a 5 star rating. I appreciate them both.
